Entry #11

Hey everyone, this week is all about blogging! I personally enjoyed blogging because it got me out of my comfort zone with my writing. I’m not used to writing a blog and it was surprisingly hard for me to pick up on. I’ve learned that you actually have to have a voice while writing it and that is definitely one of my weaknesses while writing any type of piece. I
t was a very helpful exercise that helped me grows but I also benefited from it by being able to read my fellow classmates blog and learn from them. They had some amazing things to write about but I also got to see how they wrote and learn from them. I had some challenges with my first experience blogging like being able to be informative but consistent, be entertaining and have personality in my blogs but not too personal.
Overall I enjoyed every second of blogging. It helped me grow and gave me a chance to experience a type of writing I had yet to attempt. It was a great and fun experience and I would love it if my next teacher had us do some. I hope you all have a wonderful winter break!

Blog Entry #9: Media Synthesize
Since this lesson on Media I have noticed that I've become very critical about the information I receive off the media. I have noticed that on social media sites people tend to share too much information on social media and tend to be very rude or stereotypical of others. Also, on news channels or political shows the information about an event can be very over dramatized for the sake of viewers.
Because of this I have been more careful about what I put online and how I perceive the news coverage of certain events or political opinions. I want to investigate more of the information and I don't let what I see or hear influence my opinion/beliefs until I know all the facts.
Blog Entry #10: Godless World

Good evening my fellow bloggers! Recently, the New York Daily News had the headline "God's not fixing this" with pictures of different tragedies that have happened in 2015. For example, the ISIS attacks that I've talked about in one of my blogs and multiple mass shootings that have happened more frequently since 2012. My question is, how are people who don't believe in God nor want Him in our schools and government expect Him to fix what is happening in this world? They say He doesn't exist but the first thing they go to putting the blame on Him.
Personally, as a believer I find this headline ridiculous. People will use any excuse to shut down one's religion or make it a point to say God's not real because of what has been happening. People have their right to their own opinions and beliefs, however, news coverage like the above headline tries to shut down a person's belief in God making one think that He is not the all powerful God we know Him to be.
We've taken God out of our society and because of the Godless world we live in, tragedies will continue to happen.

Blog Entry #8: Women in Combat

Can we just sit and think about how scary some of the things that you see in the news are. Women are officially allowed to go into combat! The Secretary of Defense made a historic decision to allow women on the battle field. I am usually the type of person to say "Yes! Women should be allowed to do anything men can!" Although in this case, it's the total opposite. I am definitely not 100% comfortable with the idea of women being on the first line. We have a tendency to listen to our feelings and thinking rather than just doing. For those of you who have seen the movie The American Sniper should remember the seen where Chris was aiming his gun from the top of the building at a 5 year old boy. He wasn't positive of what the boy was holding but it looked like a bomb he was brining toward Chris is other troops. Chris trusted himself with what he saw and shot him. Do you think a women who had a 5 year old kid at home would shoot that little boy? Honestly, she had to be one strong women to shut every motherly instinct out of her body. This to me isn't a great idea. I can't speak for the women in the military because some may be strong enough to do it and I am grateful for those but I just feel from knowing and speaking to women who are in Afghanistan that even killing another person isn't as easy as it seems. Everyone has their own opinion but you won't ever know if you can do it until that moment comes.

Blog Entry #7: Dumb Men

Hey everyone, is it me or is it hilarious that they named it dumb men! Some of these videos such as the one when he doesn't talk to anyone without having his coffee reminds me of so many people I know! They make them funny and relatable but a little dramatic. Most of the videos I saw connect with the audience in a normal middle class setting. It seemed like their audience was mostly middle classed everyday people you see. They try to connect with you and I think these are one of the best types of advertisements. I mean who really wants to sit there and watch boring commercials. The best commercials come out during the Super Bowl which usually are huge hits. I wouldn't mind watching hilarious relatable commercials if they all somehow made us laugh or connected with us in a certain way. I think those are the best types of advertisements. The ones that connect with the audience on a personal and relatable level and most of these did. Until next time my commercial lovers.

Extra Credit Blog Entry

The film Michael Moore’s film Capitalism: A Love Story, really was an emotional roller coaster. I'm not one to get sad over any type of movies or documentary but this one was sad. Seeing real Americans get kicked out of their homes because they couldn't pay their rent was terrible. They work so hard just to have the little that they do and yet we have no compassion or sympathy toward them. People now a days are so wrapped up in money and having as much as they can of it. But the bible says "Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This is too meaningless." The richest people in this world are not only the ones who have God in their lives but  the ones who have nothing. For they are the ones who are grateful for any little thing they have. The people who lost their houses and jobs had nothing at that moment, but in the end they will have everything. The money hungry savages that took their homes and jobs will pay the price in the end. I'm glad Moore made this film to show us what the government and business people did and are continuing to do. It makes you grateful for what you have and what society is coming to.
Blog Entry #6: Life as a server

Hey everyone who thinks serving sounds like so much fun.. think again! I can't speak for servers at your local Ihop or Buffalo Wild Wings but at least for me serving is not fun. I see the same people everyday who range from 55-103 years old. So I think you can pretty much guess that I work at a retirement home. But it's not a normal one. This one is for the rich who have to have half a million in their bank account before moving in.
In our main dining room where I work, you have to be respectful but social, funny but professional, and be super nice even when the resident is absolutely rude. Oh yeah, before accepting a job make sure you read the fine print that says they aren't allowed to tip you either. With any job you have to find out by experience if you enjoy it or not. So what I'm saying is if you don't like something stick it out a little but don't force yourself to stay.
So for all of you looking for a job.. if you want great benefits, a $300 Christmas Check, but crapy managers and $8.50 pay with crazy rushes and no tips.. Royal Oaks Retirement Community is the place for you.
